The Kootenay region is unique in many ways. That much is evident at first glance. What many visitors or new arrivals may not know is that the biking, skiing, snowboarding, hiking and general outdoor recreation-focussed lifestyle, along with a unique creative vibe and community-first mindset, is the basis of a strong and growing innovation economy.

Beneath the surface of a happy people living in a happy land are hard workers that are inspired and fuelled by that lifestyle focus to succeed in their chosen fields. From custom crafted skis and snowboards, to growing high-purity germanium crystals, the boundaries between living hard and playing hard are blurred in the West Kootenay region.

KAST is proud of the supporting role we play in encouraging the entrepreneurial minds of our region to create unique and successful businesses. Got an idea? KAST can be your “Your Business Launch Pad” in the Kootenay-Boundary region.

Please join us to celebrate some of the many innovative business successes born right here in Paradise.

Forget boring podiums. TechBrewSKI aims to be the most fun “business” event you’ve attended in some time, and quite possibly the most fun Wednesday night of the Winter 2014 season. Meet, greet, take a few turns under the stars, and enjoys some beers and laughs with fellow local entrepreneurs, ski tech superstars, and business supporters alike. Learn about how KAST can help launch your business to the next level, and get inspired by the emerging and established innovators with whom we share our spectacular snowy home.

TechBrewSKI kicks off with free night skiing on the T-bar slope at Red Mountain in Rossland. Snowboard manufacturers Trapper Snowboards from Revelstoke will be on hand to demo their handcrafted boards. Bigbend Skis (also of Revy) will also be on hand to talk up their custom boards for the two-plankers in the crowd.

After a few turns, the party moves inside the Red Mountain Lodge for appies, beer, and the one-of-a-kind, absolutely hilarious and interactive Game Show Show,  aka The Price is Jeopardy , No Deal of Fortune, featuring Rossland’s own Phillus Dillus.

All of the fun is FREE, of course, but Kootenay folk love a good celebration and tickets are limited, so be sure to RSVP in order to get a free night skiing ticket and admission to the 1st Inaugural Tech BrewSKI, hosted by Your Business Launch Pad – KAST.
