Cross Country Ski Lessons at Black Jack Ski Club

Learning the basics of cross country skiing will open the door to a lifetime of fun and fitness!  The Jackrabbits program offers cross country ski lessons throughout the winter for kids ages 4-11.  Lessons begin on December 8 and go through until March 9.  Lessons are offered on Tuesday evenings and Sunday afternoons.  Please visit the the Powderhound in Downtown Rossland to register for lessons – open at 10am daily, 11am on Sundays.  For more information on Ski Lessons:  www.skiblackjack.ca/skier-programs.

Rossland Youth Action Network

Rossland has a new Youth Coordinator who’s putting together some awesome fun for the community’s kids!  Check out the upcoming activities and events planned for the next few weeks. 

Youth Action Meeting (and PIZZA!!) for Grades 7-9

Tuesday, November 26 at the Rossland Public Library, from 6:30-7:30pm.  Come out to hear what’s happening around town and to lend your voice to the Network! 

Youth Action Meeting (and PIZZA!!) for Grades 10-12

Wednesday, November 27 at the Art Gallery, (Bank of Montreal Building) at 7:00pm.  The Network has just received a grant for $15,000.00 and needs your feedback as to how to spend it!  Would you like to have a say in your community?  Here’s your chance!! 

Parkour – Beginner Parkour for youth 12-18 years carries on this week in the Annex.  This is a pilot project to see the level of interest in starting a Parkour Club.  Drop in sessions will be on Mondays and Thursdays, starting November 18, from 7:00-8:30pm for six sessions.  Parents must come in person, the first time, to sign the waiver and to pay the $5.00 drop in fee. 

SnoBall for Grades 8-12 is going to be held in the Miners Hall on Friday, November 29.  Doors open at 8:00pm and the dance goes until 11:00pm.  The Seven Summits Centre for Learning is hosting this event, to ensure that the community’s students continue to enjoy this time honored tradition.   Tickets are on sale this week.  For times, dates and locations to purchase tickets, log onto the Facebook page for Rossland Youth Action Network.    Please contact the Youth Coordinator, Mike Kent, at yancoordinator@gmail.com for more information. 

An afternoon at the Movies – the Youth Action Network is planning another movie at the Miners Hall,

for the month December and is looking for feedback as to what Christmas movie the community would like to see.  Please “like” the Rossland Youth Action Network on Facebook for all the updates and information and to post your suggestion for what movie to show. 

Public Skating Schedule for the week of November 25-December 1

Public Skating in the Rossland Arena is on Wednesday November 27 from 6:30-7:45pm, Friday November 29 from 5:00-6:30pm and Sunday December 1 from 2:30-4:00pm and again from 6:00-7:30pm.  For more information about admission prices, skate rentals and more, please log onto the City’s website, at www.rossland.ca , then Arena page. 

Backcountry Film Social Saturday, November 30

Get together with other backcountry enthusiasts and socialize before the winter adventures begin.  Video and slide shows playing throughout the evening (bring yours).  Come and share your most memorable backcountry experiences. This social is in conjunction with Staying Safe and Enjoying the Backcountry course.  Bar service available.  $5 entry. Proceeds to Rossland Ground Search and Rescue.  Advance tickets only.  Tickets available at Powder Hound. 

Adult Drop In Hockey

Adults can enjoy Co-Ed Drop In REC Hockey on Tuesday nights from 9:45-11:00pm and Sundays from 9:15-10:30pm.  This is a fun opportunity to play hockey with players of varying abilities, including beginners.  Drop in is $10.00 or you can purchase a 10X pass from the REC Department, for $80.00.  If you’re a Goalie, you can play for free!  If you’re able to play during the day, on Thursdays from 1:45pm until 3:15pm you can play drop in hockey, for $10.00 drop in or $180.00 for the season.   

Rossland Seniors

The Rossland Seniors Hall has lots of great activities running through the week!  On Mondays at 1:30pm the Rossland Seniors Art Club meets.  Contact Edith Harasin at 250-362-5477 for more information.   On Monday evenings, the Rossland Quilters Guild gets together at 7:00pm.  Contact Deyanne Davies at 250-362-7727 for more information.   On Wednesday evenings at 7:00pm the Rossland Golden City Old Time Fiddlers practice and play.  The public are welcome to sit in and listen to the old time fiddlers play their music.  Visitors should contact Richie Mann before going to the Hall.  Contact Richie or Audrey at 250-362-9465.  On Thursdays between 9:30-11:00am join the Seniors for stretching exercises and morning tea and snacks.   

Rossland Public Library
