Do you, or someone you know, have an example of quirky and unique home repairs?  Have you ever wanted to be on TV? Do you also like getting things for free? If so, then this opportunity could be for you.  Home and Garden Television (HGTV) and Mountain Road productions are searching for candidates for a one-hour special that will showcase unconventional home repairs.

“We’re looking for really unique ideas,” said Stephanie Beaune, public relations assistant for Mountain Road Productions.  “We’ve got a few applicants from Ontario and the maritimes, but we want to go coast to coast.”

A town like Rossland, where houses come in all shapes, sizes, and designs–and where Tyvek is a popular exterior finish–should have no shortage of ‘questionable’ home repairs.  The show will be hosted by Steve Patterson, of CBC radio’s ‘The Debaters’, so the mood will be light.

Applicants should be fairly easy going and have a good sense of humour (another easy thing to find in Rossland).  If cast, HGTV will come out and film the segment, and the homeowner will have the opportunity to have their ‘repairs’ repaired professionally.

“Our goal is to uncover great characters with a bizarre sense of home ‘improvement’,” said Executive Producer Tim Alp in a press release. “We are looking for houses filled with jerry-rigged solutions that are at complete odds with mainstream expectations.”

Do you or someone you know fit this bill?  People can also nominate others, not just themselves.

The show is hoping to be in production by late fall, so time is of the essence.  Interested persons can send their applications or nominations to casting@mountainroad.ca.  Include photos and the story behind the questionable home improvements, photos of the person nominated or applying, as well as your contact info.  For more details, visit the show’s website.  Let’s show people what home repair means in Rossland.
