Car fire this morning 'suspicious'
Police and the fire department are teaming up to investigate a fire that destroyed a vehicle this morning, according to fire chief Gerry Rempel.
“The Castlegar Fire Department was dispatched to a garage fire in the 2100 block of Columbia Avenue shortly before 6:30 a.m. today (Nov. 2),” Rempel said. “A vehicle was fully involved inside a portable garage on arrival of the fire dept.
“Although the fire was quickly extinguished, the vehicle was destroyed.”
Rempel said the fire is considered suspicious at this time and is under investigation by the Castlegar Fire Deptartment and the RCMP.
There were no injuries, but damage is estimated at around $10,000.
