RCMP Drug Task Force arrest pair with toddler for drug trafficking in Penticton

A four-year-old toddler has been placed with a suitable family representative after police found the child watching television during a drug bust Wednesday in Penticton.

Local RCMP Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at a unit in the 900 block of Fairview Road Wednesday.

The man and woman, both 28 years of age, were arrested at the apartment. A search of the unit uncovered over 15 grams of methamphetamine and 14 grams of cocaine, cell phones and drug trafficking paraphernalia, including an air pistol replica handgun.

During the bust police found the four-year-old toddler watching television amidst the day’s activity. 

The man and woman were transported to the Penticton RCMP Detachment were they were held in custody. 

Both were eventually released, with Mandy Jo Squakin facing a charge of Possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine and methamphetamine.

RCMP investigators contacted the Ministry of Children and Family Development who arranged to have the little girl placed with a suitable care.
