September is in the air, and with it will start new chapters in Rossland education.  In keeping with the back-to-school fashions, the Seven Summits Learning Centre’s new location was getting a makeover this past weekend, getting ready to fulfill its role as a space for young minds to develop.  A lot of work has been done, but still more is left to do.  Thus, another work party is scheduled for this weekend, from 10-4 on Saturday and Sunday.

“This weekend we had about 35 volunteers come out,” said Aerin Guy, Coordinator for the Neighbourhood of Learning.  “There was a good mix of students, parents, as well as a number of community members who just wanted to lend a hand.”

A wide range of jobs were undertaken, such as painting, yard work, and locker installation, with a lot more still needing to be done.  Anyone with some spare hands and spare time is encouraged to come out this weekend and join the party!  With items being donated to the centre, coupled with the volunteerism witnessed this weekend, it continues to be a community effort that makes the opening of this centre possible.

The first week of the school year will be held at the Red Mountain Resort Conference Centre, as the final renovations at 2393B Columbia Avenue are completed.  Here are some snapshots of what was being done last weekend.
