Dear editor,

The renovation of RSS to prepare it to be a K‐9 school continues and is nearing the end.  This week we met with contractors to look at the final outstanding items.  What we have found is that while the contractors will bebdone the vast majority of the work it will not leave any time for teachers to prepare their rooms to be ready forbthe students.

Given this reality we will delay the start of school for students by two days.  The contractors will finish the majority of their work on Friday August 30. Over the long weekend our crew will clean the remaining areas of the school and move furniture and boxes into each classroom.  On Tuesday September 3 and Wednesday, September 4 school staff will be in the building preparing their rooms for students. School will open for students on Thursday September 5 at 8:30am for a full day of school.

Over the first few weeks in September, outside of regular school hours, the last of the contractors will be installing some millwork, sinks in primary classrooms and painting some common areas.

We apologize for any inconvenience due to the delayed start.

Sincerely,

Greg Luterbach

Superintendent of Schools
