A logging truck rolled over near the Eholt Summit, 23 km West of Grand Forks, Thursday afternoon just before 2 p.m.

The drive of the logging truck was able to get out of the truck safely, but the logs and cab caught on fire. Grand Forks Fire and Rescue attended the scene and were able to quickly put the fire out.

“We had three trucks and 14 volunteers go out,” said deputy fire chief Kevin McKinnon.

The fire started to spread to the bank around the scene of the accident but they were able to contain it with only minimal damage.

According to Ministry of Transportation staff, the highway was closed both direction for just over an hour and was reduced to single-lane traffic for several hours after.
