Electric fencing presentation!

If you’re interested in electric fencing for your yard or your garden, Wildsafe (formerly Bear Aware) is offering a free workshop on Thursday, June 20 from 6:00-8:00pm at the Community Garden in Jubilee Park.  A discussion on the “how to” of electric fencing will be followed by an actual fence set up around a residential garden.  The course is sponsored by CBT and Rossland WildSafeBC.  Please call to register or for more information, at 250-231-2751. The Gold Fever Follies annual summer production is running on Tuesdays through Saturdays with shows at 3:00pm and 7:30pm.  The famous summer theatre production is located in the historic Miners Hall, located at 1765 Columbia Ave.  The female cast of the Gold Fever Follies is offering a one day camp on Monday, July 29 from 11:30-1:30pm. Girls ages 6+ are invited to meet the characters in person and learn the Can Can from the Follies’ own choreography team!   The cost is $20.00 and will be held at the Minors Hall.   To register for this exciting one day camp, please contact John at 19johnhan88@gmail.com.   Proceeds will go to the Naughty Knickers night on August 18th.   Details about the Naughty Knickers night will be coming out soon! 

The cast of the Gold Fever Follies have lots of great summer theatre camps for kids in the next few weeks!  From July 22 to July 26 the cast is running the “Gleeful Camp” which will feature popular songs and dance moves to impress the friends and family.  From July 29 to August 2 the cast is offering the “Theatre Jam” camp which will have kids exploring different ways to tell stories, brainstorm ideas and create a short play.  The last camp is the “Physical Theatre Workshop” camp and it runs August 12 to the 16.  This camp will have students learning to create a theatre piece using dance, mime and mask techniques.  At the end of the workshop there will be a small performance showing an original story that includes mask work, mime, music and dance.  Most of the Follies Camps run in the mornings but please contact the Recreation Department for the specifics of each camp. 

Only two more weeks of outdoor Yoga if you’ve missed the opportunity!  Instructor Cynthia Anonuevo, RYT has been running an outdoor beginner Vinyasa Flow Yoga class at the Rossglen Park in lower Rossland since the beginning of June, on Wednesdays from 5:30-6:30pm.   The weekly class will run until July 31st.  Classes combine flowing progressions from one pose to another, as well as sustained postures with attention to basic alignment and therapeutic principles.  These drop in classes are by donation with all proceeds being donated to the Rossland Food Bank.  Please contact Rossland Recreation, at 250-362-2327 for more information.   

There are still a few spots left in the Rossland Art Camp at the end of August, from the 19-23.  This camp runs from 9:00am to 3:00pm each day for kids 8-12 years of age.  The course focusses on multimedia art, including; drawing, painting, sculptures and puppets.  As the week progresses the kids will use all of these pieces to create digital movies.  Instructed by Shelley Painter the kids will create and edit stop-action and regular short movies, complete with titles, sound effects and music. 

The Family Swim time at the Rossland Pool is from 4:00-5:30pm during the months of July and August.   If you have young children it’s one of the nicest ways to end a hot summer day, before the demands of dinner and bedtime routines.  The Rossland Pool has season’s passes available to make things even easier!  Contact the Rossland Pool at,   250-362-5455 or the Recreation Department for more information. 

The Rossland Pool is offering evening lap swim this summer.  The days of the week and times of day change between June and July, so if you’re interested in evening lap swim, please take note of the times and dates that are posted on the chalkboard facing Columbia Ave.  We’ll post weekly updates on the board every week to make sure you know when you can come and enjoy the evening lap swim. 

If you have an infant, toddler or preschool child, the Aqua Tot classes run twice a week at the Rossland Pool.   This half hour class is from 11:30-12:00pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays and runs 8 weeks until August 22.  Cost is $2 drop-in for pass holders and $3 for non-pass holders. Aqua Tots is a fun, social time for parents and little ones.  Lessons will cover buoyancy, movement, floating, gliding and swimming skills while enjoying active water play.  If you’re a regular, we’ll keep track of your progress as your little one works through the Red Cross Preschool swim skills and we’ll present you with a report card for each level completed. 

Rossland Mountain Markethas started and runs from June 27 to September 26 on Thursdays from 3:00-6:00pm.
