Kannibelles, Dam City Rollers host exhibition doubleheader Saturday at Selkirk College

It’s an All-Star afternoon as the Kootenay Kannibelles battle the Spokannibals of Spokane in West Kootenay Roller Derby Exhibition action Saturday afternoon at the Selkirk College Gymnasium in Castlegar.
The doubleheader day begins at 2:30 p.m. with the Castlegar Dam City Rollers hosting the Tournament City Derby Dolls of Kamloops.
The feature match between the Kannibelles and Spokannibals follows at 4:30 p.m.
The Kannibelles, a collection of players from the five West Kootenay Roller Derby League teams from Trail/Rossland, Nelson, Salmo, Slocan Valley and Castlegar, are fresh from winning the Spokarnage tournament last month in the Lilac City. Kootenay defeated the Sockit Wenches from Seattle 202-118 to take the tournament along with the $700 first prize.
During Saturday’s doubleheader West Kootenay Roller Derby will be partnering with The Castlegar Community Harvest Food Bank.
The goal is to fill the Food Bank so organizers urge fans to bring a non-perishable food items to the bout and receive a $5 discount on admission.
