Kaslo RCMP Cpl. Shaun Begg says yet more of the property stolen during Break and Enters involving 4 unoccupied buildings in the Johnson’s Landing slide area has shown up, this time on the front steps of a local church. Other property, believed to have been stolen from residences in an area still deemed to be unstable from an earlier fatal mudslide some eight months ago, turned up about three weeks ago, piled neatly at the side of an area road.

“Perhaps my initial conjecture about a guilty conscience at work here is correct,” said Begg, who notes the symbolism of the articles, two pieces of computer equipment, being left at a church. “Whatever the motivation for the location of the recovered property, it always nice to return property to its rightful owner.”

He said the recovered equipment will first be examined by the Forensics Unit.

No arrests have been made to date and the RCMP investigation is continuing.

RCMP continue to seek the public’s assistance in this investigation. Anyone having knowledge of this incident are asked to please contact the Kaslo RCMP at (250) 353-2225 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. Callers to Crime Stoppers remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward.
