This past weekend brought to an end the Nancy Greene Ski League’s 2012/2013 season.

The final Nancy Greene race, at Phoenix Mountain, saw U10 athletes get individual results for the first time this season.  Chase Eagleton swept the U10 boys while Emelia Hoffman swept the U10 girls.  Iman Livingstone and  Finlay Kinghorn, also took podium spots in the U10 category.

Sage Stefani finished her racing season with a stellar silver medal in the U12 girls category, achieving a goal she had had all season.

All the racers had a fun day and medals were had by all.  All three RMR teams, which included athletes from Rossland, Trail, Fruitvale, and Castlegar, achieved gold in the team results.

But the racing isn’t over, and the best are coming to town this upcoming weekend.

Red Mountain Resort and Red Mountain Racers are hosting the U16 Provincial Championships in Slalom and Giant Slalom.  The action starts this Thursday and continues through the weekend.

Featured at this event is Red Mountain’s own Soleil Patterson who comes off a stellar performance the last time she raced at Red sweeping both days of GS in late February.

Also featured are Red Mountain Academy students Liene Groeger (Germany) and Arina Rora.  Arina is representing Red Mountain Racers and is here training from Romania.  She has just come back from competing in her national championships at home, with a gold in GS and a bronze in Slalom.

It is going to be an exciting 4 days of racing and the conditions should be ideal.

“The snow was really hard and fast during training on Sunday,” says Christine Andison, Race organizer for this week’s event. “We are going to have some pretty outstanding racing.”
