The Castlegar Rebels bounced back to square the Murdoch Division Final, but needed a third-period explosion to even the series.

Diego Bartlett, Aaron Brewer and Jamie Vlanich scored during a three-minute span early in the final frame to lift the Rebels to a 4-2 win over the Beaver Valley Nitehawks in Kootenay International Junior Hockey League action Tuesday in the Sunflower City.

The best-of-seven series now shifts to Frutivale for Games three and four Thursday and Friday.

Castlegar, still smarting from a 3-2 loss Monday in Game one, opened the scoring when the diminutive Travis Wellman scored on Jarrod Schamerhorn in the Hawks net.

Castlegar maintained the lead until Danny Vlanich scored on the power play in the second.

Tied 1-1 entering the third, the scoring gates opened as the teams combined for four goals in a three-minute span, with Nick Perez rounding out the goals for Beaver Valley.

Beaver Valley out shot the Rebels 30-27.

Jordan Gluck was the winning netminder against Schamerhorn, the latter making his first start since being injured in Game five of the Nelson/Beaver Valley series.

Rockets grab lead in Eddie Mountain Final

James Leonard stopped 41 of 42 shots leading the Golden Rockets to a 3-1 road win in Fernie against the Ghostriders.

Golden leads the best-of-seven series 1-0 with Game two Wednesday in Fernie.
