Two people arrested, one facing charges after police search local home
On Saturday evening, March 2, members of the Castlegar RCMP Detachment executed a Search Warrant in the 300 Block of 3rd Street, according to Cpl. Debbie Postnikoff.
“General Duty members were investigating drug activity at the home over the past six months leading up to the search warrant,” she said in a press release this morning. “A 40-year-old Castlegar woman and 36-year-old Castlegar man were arrested without incident. The search of the residence revealed a quantity of marihuana, cocaine and unidentified prescription pills (not prescribed to her). Currency and drug paraphernalia were also seized.
“The male was subsequently released without charges, however, charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a controlled substance have been recommended by police against the 40-year-old woman.”
Postnikoff said both individuals are known to police.
“On March 3, a bail hearing was conducted and the female was released on various conditions of which include not to possess any weapons, not to possess any cell phone or digital device, not to possess any drugs except as prescribed by a doctor and a curfew to be inside her residence between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m.”
Her first appearance in Court is scheduled for April 10 in Castlegar.
