Local band Roy Has Fire needs your help!  A couple of months ago the Castlegar-based band entered the BC's Best Teen Band Contest and after deliberations a panel of industry professionals has picked them to be in the Top 10 stage of the contest.  For the next month online voting by fans will determine which bands make it to the Top 3.

That's where you come in! By going to the You Think website and voting each day you can help the four youngsters take their unique sound to Vancouver for the final showdown of the Top 3 bands.  They are the only band in the competition that is not from the Lower Mainland, and they are proud to represent the Kootenay music scene.

The four members of Roy Has Fire are Mateo Villa (age 15) on lead vocals/bass, James Villa (age 17) on vocals/guitar, Oliver Bean (age 18) on guitar, and Derek Monson (age 17) on drums.

They formed a band a few years ago while some of them were students at Supercat Studios, played their first gig at the Castle Theatre in Castlegar, and have played regularly at community events, concerts and parties all over the Kootenys ever since.

Their sound is alternative rock and they list many and varied artists amongst their influences, including but not limited to, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Pink Floyd, Jack White, ZZ Top, Coldplay and Death Cab for Cutie.

Voting continues until Feb 18th, and you can learn more about Roy Has Fire and hear more of their music on Facebook and on Youtube.
