Nanaimo police arrest U.S. sex offender

A 49-year-old American citizen, wanted in several states for sex offence parole violations, was arrested in Nanaimo early yesterday morning.

Nanaimo RCMP, in consultation with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), received information the male was residing in the Nanaimo area. At approximately 8:30 a.m. on Nov. 14, officers attended a residence in south Nanaimo and arrested the suspect without incident. There was no one else in the home at the time of his arrest.

 

The man is wanted by authorities in Illinois and Minnesota for various parole violations.

 

The man remains in police custody at this time. CBSA are leading this ongoing investigation.

 

No further details will be released by police.
