The Kootenay Ice took two on the chin from the Greater Vancouver Canadians in B.C. Hockey Major Midget League action at the Richmond Oval.

The Canadians blasted the Ice 6-1 Saturday and 11-0 Sunday to sweep the series in convincing fashion.

Brendan Smith of Nelson from Kimberley’s Coy Prevost early in the final period was the only goal scored for the Ice.

Greater Van was led by Adam Musil of Delta.

Sunday, the Canadian romped to a 4-0 first period lead and never looked back.

The scoring was spread through the Canadians roster with Justion Szeto scoring twice in the game.

Kootenay, 2-11-1 on the season, is in Castlegar this weekend to host league-leading Vancouver Northwest Giants in a twin bill at the Arena Complex.

Saturday’s game starts at 7 p.m. The teams return to action Sunday at 10 a.m.

The Giants have dropped just one point in 14 games to lead the league by a point over the Cariboo Courgars. However, the Prince George based team has played two more games.
