Phoenix Foundation spreading a little hope next week

Hope moves us forward when times are tough and helps us flourish while coping with obstacles life puts in our path.
The Phoenix Foundation of the Boundary Communities is celebrating 15 years of supporting community organizations in the region to achieve their dreams for local projects that help local people and foster hope. To truly commemorate the vision of their founding members back in 1997, the Foundation invites everyone to hear from the Hope Lady, Wendy Edey, on Thursday, Nov. 8 at Gallery 2.
“We’re thrilled to have Wendy coming to the Boundary from the Hope Foundation of Alberta,” said Christine Thompson, board president. “We believe that the Phoenix Foundation offers one way for community organizations to stay hopeful in difficult financial times. Wendy’s message gives other ideas for helping everyone stay focused on achieving great things in their own lives.”
Wendy is a hope expert whose presentations are laced with humour and storytelling seeing life from a hopeful perspective. Edey shares her experience with hope work, being hopeful, hopeful people, hopeful language and hope symbols. Hear about things that turned out better than expected and impossible things that became possible. Hear about hoping, coping, and moping in stories about disability, aging, care-giving and child development.
Along with the guest speaker, the evening offers a chance for networking, learning more about some of this year’s grant recipients, connecting with local organizations, and enjoying hors d’oeuvres.
Tickets for the Phoenix Foundation’s 15th anniversary are $15 (for 15 years) and available at Thistle Pot Gifts and Huckleberry Market. The evening starts at 6:30 p.m. with the Hope presentation at 7:00 p.m. at Gallery 2, 524 Central Ave. Grand Forks.
