UPDATED: Man shot near Cranbrook appears in court Friday charged of Robbery and Possession of Stolen Property

A 26-year-old male and 17-year-old female, both from Port Coquitlam will appear in Cranbrook Provincial Court Friday in connection with a carjacking near Creston Tuesday night.
Nickolas John Bullock, 26, is facing charges of Robbery and Possession of Stolen Property while the 17-year-old female is facing one charge possession of stolen property.
Police made the arrests after receiving a 9-1-1 call around 8:24 p.m. of a car jacking which had occurred in the Kitchener area just south of Creston.
The victim reported to police that he had stopped to assist a man and woman who were hitchhiking.
It is alleged that the man was pepper sprayed and physically kicked out of his vehicle and left roadside.
The vehicle description and circumstances of the incident were relayed to the Creston, Cranbrook/ Kimberley and Elk Valley RCMP Detachments.
Cranbrook/Kimberley RCMP officers set up a patrol perimeter just south of Cranbrook and shortly after 10 p.m. (MST) the stolen vehicle was spotted by an on-duty Cranbrook RCMP officer.
The officer attempted to pull it over just south of the city.
The suspects failed to stop and continued into the city where they pulled into a private residential property in the area of 13 Steet South and 22 Ave, where the suspects were taken into custody.
Man shot near Cranbrook following alleged car jacking
A male was taken to hospital after being shot by a Cranbrook RCMP member Tuesday night near the East Kootenay City.
At approximately 10:30 p.m. (MST) the Cranbrook officer attempted to stop what was suspected to be the vehicle involved in a car jacking earlier in the day near Creston.
During the stop the officer discharged his service pistol.
Two suspects were taken into custody. The male suspect was transferred to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The female suspect remains in police custody.
The RCMP member was not injured.
The scene has been secured in anticipation of the arrival of B.C.’s Independent Investigations Office.
The IIO now has jurisdiction over this matter.
