COURT BRIEFS: UPDATED - Grand Forks man charged in Midway bombing

Ian Jason Peregoodoff, 43 of Grand Forks, has been charged with two counts of arson and damage to private property and two counts of mischief after allegedly bottle bombing the Midway RCMP Detachment and police vehicle on Monday, June 18.

Peregoodoff remains in police custody appeared in the Nelson provincial court on Wednesday, June 20 and the matter has been set over to July 17 in Grand Forks.

Wife of “Bear Dude” trial set for July 17

The wife of Christina Lake “Bear Dude” Allen Piche will have her day in court, July 17.

Kathleen Wickie has been charged with the feeding or attempted feeding of dangerous wildlife. Her lawyer entered a not guilty plea on her behalf during a regular Grand Forks court session, Tuesday, June 19. The two-day trial is set for July 17 and will include up to five crown witnesses.

Lawyer, Jessie Gelber, will be representing Wickie during the trial, as he did her husband Piche. Piche was found guilty of feeding up to 24 black bears on his Fife Road property and fined $6,000 earlier this spring.

Cusack looking for bail             

Christopher James Cusack, 47, was scheduled for a judicial interm release during his appearance in the Grand Forks court, Tuesday, June 19.

However, he was put over the following day to appear in the Nelson court for the same thing and then in Rossland court today, Thursday, June 21.

Cusack is charged with two counts of arson endangering life in connection with the fires at the Grand Forks Hotel and the Winnipeg Hotel in March.

No plea has been made.

Peter Demski facing assault charges

Grand Forks resident Peter Demski, who is well-known for his illegal trailer park on Granby Road that was removed by the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary earlier this year, will be tried for assault and being unlawful in a dwelling house on July 30.

Demski will be representing himself during the proceedings.
