Trail man to face charges in Castlegar court after allegedly shoplifting and resisting arrest
A Trail man is facing five criminal charges stemming from a recent shoplifting/resisting arrest incident in Castlegar, according to Castlegar RCMP Sgt. Laurel Mathew.
“On June 15, RCMP received a report that an adult male had stolen a bottle of liquor from the Uptown Liquor Store,” she said. “The suspect was not identified or located at that time.”
On June 16, she continued, at roughly 11:05 a.m., Castlegar RCMP received a tip that the suspect from the day before was now at Shopper’s Drug Mart in Castlegar.
“Upon police attendance, the individual was located and identified by a Castlegar RCMP officer. The suspect was arrested but resisted, a struggle ensued and the male was able to rip the officer’s radio off his shoulder, taking away the officer’s ability to request back up. “Several calls were made to 9-1-1 from bystanders, advising of the altercation,” she added. “The individual was eventually secured in handcuffs and taken into custody. A police search of the suspect revealed that he was in possession of a bottle of cologne that had been stolen from Shopper’s Drug Mart prior to his arrest.”
Mathew said the suspect has been remanded for court on June 18th.
“Further investigation revealed that the suspect was on court-imposed conditions, specifically that he be at his residence daily between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.,” she said. “Trail RCMP had conducted a curfew check on this on June 15th after 10 p.m., and he was not home and therefore in breach of the conditions.”
As a result, 34-year-old Trevor Isenor has been charged with the following:
– two counts of theft under $5000
– one count of possession of stolen property
– one count of Obstruct/Resist Peace Officer
– once count of Breach of Probation.
Mathew said Isenor is well known to police.
