Nelson Police arrest young female after Saturday night stabbing at foot of Baker Street; male victim released from hospital

A 20-year-old male was transported to Kootenay Lake Hospital and a young female is in Nelson Police Department lockup after a stabbing Saturday night near the foot of Baker Street.

At approximately 11:15 p.m., police received several 911 calls that male has been stabbed.

Upon arrival, police noted several youths requesting police to attend to a stabbing victim.

Witnesses also pointed out a female youth allegedly responsible for the attack that helped police arrest a young female for assault with a weapon and Uttering Death Threats.

B.C. Ambulance paramedics transported the victim to hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and released.

The accused female is being held in Nelson Police Department cells pending investigation and is expected to make a court appearance on Monday (April 30) in Nelson Provincial Court.

Officers also arrested a 20 year-old male on scene for assault.

He was released shortly afterwards with strict conditions and a Nelson court date of August 14.

Police noted the assistance of several young witnesses and exemplary behavior and cooperation helped greatly during this complex investigation.

Car alarm results in arrest of youths for theft

Two youths were charged with theft after items were stolen from a car early Saturday morning in Uphill.

At approximately 1:49 a.m. a Nelson resident called 911 after hearing a car alarm and observing a male running from the crime scene.

Within minutes Nelson Police were on the scene and noticed young males running between houses.

Police contained the area before locating two youths hiding behind a house.

The pair were arrested Theft from Auto under $5000 dollars and Possession of Stolen Property and released into the custody of parents with strict conditions.

The two youths are scheduled to appear in Nelson Provincial court in August.

The incident remains under investigation pending further theft from auto reports from the public.

Male remanded in custody

Saturday at 4:30 p.m. a 38 year-old male was arrested for Breach of Undertaking after he attempted to make contact with his ex-girlfriend outside her residence.

He was also charged with having alcohol in his body.

The accused was remanded in custody during a bail hearing and is scheduled to attend Nelson Provincial Court on Monday (April 30).

Since Wednesday (April 25) Nelson Police Department responded to 70 calls, several happening during the weekend directly related to the carnival located at the foot of Baker Street.

The calls involved liquor infractions, disturbances, trespassing offences with respect to crossing underneath the trains and unwanted persons.
