Hawks, Calvin open Cyclone with 1-1 tie against Delta

Dallas Calvin continued his torrid playoff scoring streak, netting the only marker for the Beaver Valley Nitehawks in a 1-1 tie against the Delta Ice Hawks Thursday in the opening game of the 2012 Cyclone Taylor Cup in Abbotsford.
Calvin’s goal came in the second period and tied the game. The tally increased Calvin’s playoff point streak to six games.
Delta’s John Proctor scored less than two minutes into the contest to give the Pacific Junior Champs a 1-0 lead.
The Ice Hawks out shot Beaver Valley 44-35 but could only beat the KIJHL champs Mike Vlanich for only one marker.
Beaver Valley returns to the ice Friday against Vancouver Island Junior winner Victoria Cougars.
