Calvin scores in OT to sink Chiefs 5-4, Hawks now lead series 3-0 with Game four Sunday in Kelowna

The Beaver Valley Nitehawks may have just sucked the life out of the Kelowna Chiefs.
Or check that, Dallas Calvin may be the one responsible for the Chiefs now being on life support.
Calvin, Mr. Offence for Beaver Valley in the series, scored at 6:29 of the first overtime period to lift the Hawks to a 5-4 overtime decision over the Chiefs in Game three of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League Championships Series Saturday in the Central Okanagan City.
It was Calvin’s third of the game and second hat-trick in two contests.
Beaver Valley now has a commanding 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.
Beaver Valley can pull out the brooms on the series Sunday in Rutland as the teams drop the puck on Game four at 7 p.m.
Kelowna appeared to have finally solved the Hawks, exploding for three goals during a four-minute span in the second period to erase a 2-1 deficit and grab a two-goal advantage after 40 minutes.
Josh McEwan tied the game on the power play before Kyle Clerke gave Kelowna a 3-2 lead 76 seconds later.
Landon Andrusiak increased the margin with a power play goal.
Tyler Collins cut the lead to 4-3 with Nick Perez tying the game in the final minute to force overtime.
Calvin, named the game’s second star, now has 12 points in the series, including six goals.
T. J. Dumonceaux also scored for the Chiefs.
Mike Vlanich stopped 36 of 40 shots to register the win in goal for Beaver Valley. Kelowna out shot the Hawks 40-36.
SERIES NOTES: The game attracted 657 fans. . . . Connor Wilkinson earned his first start of the Final series for Kelowna. Zack Perehudoff is expected to be back in the nets for Sunday’s game. . . .The big offensive guns for Kelowna, Landon Andrusiak and captain Dane Rupert each finished the game with one point. The pair were kept off the scoresheet during game two in Fruitvale . . . The KIJHL winner advances to the Cylcone Taylor Cup April 12-15 in Abbotsford. Host team, Abbotsford Pilots are joined by Vancouver Island winner Victoria Cougars and Delta Ice Hawks, champs of the Pacific International Hockey League.
