The Castlegar Rebels served up the first volley.

The Beaver Valley Nitehawks answered by sending it right back.

But in the end it was the Rebels with the resounding spike, scoring four third-period goals Tuesday in the Sunflower City to pull out a 6-4 victory and send the Murdoch Division Final to a seventh game.

The best-of-seven Kootenay International Junior Hockey League Conference Semi Final is all squared at 3-3 with the deciding contest set for Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Fruitvale Arena.

Still feeling the euphoria from Monday double-OT victory, the Rebels jumped to a 2-0 first period lead on goals by, Monday’s hero, Arthur Andrews and Peter Mingus.

However, the Beaver Valley power play warmed up in the second, scoring two of the three goals on special teams to lead 3-2 after 40 minutes.

The Hawks big line of Ryan Edwards, Craig Martin and Chris Derochie snapped out of a brief slump to led the visitors, with Derochie and Martin scoring on the power play.

Mason Spear added the other marker.

But the Rebels answered the bell in the third.

Tyler Jones tied the game six minutes into the frame.

Two power play goals by Scott Morriseau and Stuart Walton 24 seconds apart sent the crowd into frenzy.

Ryan Baines made it interesting, cutting the lead to 5-4 three minutes later.

But the game’s first star, Tyler Robinson secured the win for the Rebels with unassisted goal with 20 ticks remaining on the clock.

Jordan Gluck was the winner for the second straight game in goal for Castlegar, facing 36 shots as Beaver Valley out shot the Rebels for the second consecutive game.

Zach Perehudoff took the loss in goal for the Hawks.
