Quick thinking by Salmo resident helps prevent fire
Quick thinking by a resident stopped a fire in its tracks.
At approximately 10 p.m. Sunday, RCMP received a call of a possible arson in progress at a commercial building in the 400 block of Davies Street in Salmo.
Upon arriving, RCMP noticed unknown suspects had ignited at item on a wooden ledge of the building before fleeing the scene.
Luckily the fire was seen by a Salmo resident, who quickly removed the item from the building before flames spread.
Salmo RCMP and the Kootenay Boundary Police Dog Service attended the scene and the investigation is ongoing.
This is not the first report of vandalizm in the this building as, last month, it was also the target of a mischief with windows broken out.
It is unknown at this time if the investigations are related.
Salmo RCMP request anyone with information on this or other crimes call the Salmo RCMP detachment at 250-357-2212 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
