The Kootenay Wildcats hope a little taste of home cooking will be enough to change the fortunes of the B.C .Female Midget  AAA Hockey League team when the club hosts a pair of games this weekend in Nelson.

The Cats, currently in fourth spot with a 2-8 record, host league leading Fraser Valley Phantom in a pair of league games beginning Saturday at the NDCC Arena.

The teams take to the ice for game one of the two-game set at 5:45 p.m.

Sunday, puck drops at 9:15 a.m.

Kootenay is led offensively by Kaslo’s Kathryn Haegedorn, in 17th spot in league scoring stats with three goals and three assists.

Unfortunately for Haegedorn and the rest of the Cats 10 Phantom players have more points than Kootenay’s leading scorer.

When the teams met earlier this season, Fraser Valley skated away with a pair of wins — 2-0 and 5-1.

Meanwhile, in Castlegar, the Kootenay Ice return home to face Greater Vancouver Canadians. Game on is at 4 p.m. Saturday.

Game two goes 9:30 a.m. Sunday.
