From video game design and digital music, to bio-engineering, business and dentistry; Kootenay and Boundary communities can expect some amazing future achievements from our 2011 grads. The Kootenay Association for Science & Technology (KAST) is very proud of our region’s talented tech and science students, including RSS’s Simone Behrens.

In addition to her KAST scholarship, Simone Behrens earned a $1000 entrance grant to the University of Victoria Faculty of Science, where she is considering pursuing psychiatry, entering the Foreign Service, or environmental studies and sustainability.
She is RSS’s Student Council treasurer, secretary of the Interact Club, and has obtained Grade 7 standing with the Royal Conservatory for piano and classical voice.
Simone has volunteered in Roatan, Honduras at an HIV clinic, and is now working with other community members to create 2 trails in Rossland.

Please join us in congratulating all the winners of our 2011 $250 scholarships, available to graduating students in School Districts 8, 10, 20 and 51 who demonstrate a passion for science and/or technology through a combination of academic achievement and/or participation and leadership.
