He powered the Trafalgar Totems to the B.C. Juvenile Basketball Championship and the L.V. Rogers Junior Bombers to B.C. Junior Boy’s Crown the very next year.

Did we say the LVR Juniors won the title with an amazing 38-0 record?

He led the varsity squad to a fourth-place finish at the B.C. High School AAA Boy’s Tourney during his senior year.

He then played four years of NCAA Division One Men’s Basketball at Santa Clara in California while representing Canada on the international scene during the summer.

For the past three years he’s been playing professional basketball in Europe — two seasons in Turkey and last year in Germany.

Now the 6’11”, 245-pound Sean Denison is back in old high school gymnasium stomping grounds as part of the coaching staff at the Kootenays Finest Basketball Camp.

The camp began Monday and runs through Friday at the LVR Hangar.

Two former high school teammates, Jeremy Phelan and co-camp coordinator Matthew Fuhr join Denison on the coaching staff — all three played key parts of Nelson’s two provincial champion hoop teams at Trafalgar and LVR.

Another LVR grad and college player, David Joseph, is the other co-camp coordinator. Joseph, who toiled at Okanagan College, is also on the coaching staff.

The camp, focusing on improving individual skills and team play, is open to players in Grades 7 to 12.

Sessions run daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a 45-minute lunch break.

Late registrants are being accepted.
