It’s another round of the West Kootenay Women’s Roller Derby League Friday at the Castlegar Community Complex.

The doubleheader of action begins at 7 p.m. with the Dam City Rollers of Castlegar up against the Babes of Brutality from Salmo.

The second contest of the night is Nelson’s Killjoys and Gnarlie’s Angels of Rossland.

The West Kootenay Women’s Roller Derby League is made up of Salmo’s Babes of Brutality, the Gnarlie’s Angels from Rossland, Castlegar’s Dam City Rollers, Nelson’s   Killjoys and Lumber Jackies, Slocan’s Valley Vandettas and the region’s travel team, the Kootenay Cannibelles.

Roller derby involves skating around an oval track, with points scored as the two jammers, one from each team; simultaneously lap the blockers on the opposing team.

However, it’s not easy for the jammers to lap the field, as they must fight their way through the pack, scoring a point for each lap.

Last month the league held a successful opening night of the 2011 season in Rossland.
