The press is a strange hybrid—a private business, but one with an inherent duty to play a role in the proper functioning of democracy by ensuring the free flow of information and opinion. A core principle of Lone Sheep Publishing has always been its commitment to the facilitation of democracy and community. Well, it doesn’t get much more democratic OR community-oriented than an all candidates’ forum at election time.

With this in mind, Lone Sheep Publishing, in partnership with local Chambers of Commerce, is proud to be sponsoring a series of debates around the West Kootenay region between April 12 and 27.

These forums, listed below, will take place in Rossland, Castlegar, Midway, Grand Forks, and Trail and will feature all the local candidates for office. There will be both set questions and a chance for audience members to speak their minds at each event.

If you have any questions you’d like us to ask the men and woman who would like to represent you in Ottawa, drop us a line and we’ll see what we can do.

We sincerely hope you’ll take the time to show up and get educated on what these candidates have to offer!

Castlegar. Tuesday, April 12th. 6:00 PM at The Fireside Inn. 1810 8th Avenue.

Midway. Saturday, April 16th at 7:00 PM at the Midway Community Centre.

Grand Forks. Monday, April 18th at 7:00 PM at Grand Forks Senior Secondary.

Trail. Tuesday, April 26th at 7:00 PM in the Cominco Arena.

Rossland. Wednesday, April 27th at 7:00 PM at the Miners’ Hall.

Lone Sheep Publishing…straying from the herd.
