Rebels dominate Hawks to grab 6-3 road victory, take series lead

The Castlegar Rebels rallied from a two-goal deficit to score five consecutive times in a 6-3 victory over the Beaver Valley Nitehawks in Kootenay International Junior Hockey League playoff action Monday night in Fruitvale.
The win gives the Rebels a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-seven Murdoch Division Final series. Game four is Tuesday in Fruitvale.
Despite holding a considerable edge in the play — out shooting Beaver Valley 13-4 in the opening frame — Castlegar trailed 3-1 after 20 minutes.
Goals by Daniel Bishop, Keanan Patershuk and Taylor Love, with two seconds remaining in the period, gave the Hawks the early momentum.
But Castlegar kept on coming.
Dominating the second frame with another wide advantage in the shots department — Castlegar held a 17-5 margin — the Rebels tied the game on goals by Aaron Brewer, with his second of the night, and Jamie Vlanich.
In the third the vaunted Castlegar offence scored three times on Beaver Valley starter Michael Vlanich as Spencer Brodt, Tyler Robinson and Ryan Reid did the damage.
Vlanich and Reid had three points for the Rebels while Brewer and Robinson contributed two points.
Castlegar finished the game out shooting Beaver Valley 43-14.
Each team scored once on the power play.

Five players registered two points lifting the Revelstoke Grizzlies to a 6-2 win over Kamloops Storm in the Shuswap Division Final. The Grizz lead the best-of-seven series 3-1. Game five is Wednesday in Revelstoke.
Desert Dogs sink Chiefs in overtime
Corey Allen scored at 11 minute of overtime to give the Osoyoos Coyotes a 3-2 win over Kelowna Chiefs in the Okanagan Division Final. Former Nelson Leaf sniper Dane Rupert had scored late in the third period to send the game to extra time. Osoyoos leads the best-of-seven series 3-0. Game four is Tuesday in Rutland.
