Bertolucci, Team B.C. taste Canada Games gold
Kootenay Ice forward Luke Bertolucci is tasting gold after helping Team B.C. to a 7-4 victory over Quebec in the final of Ice Hockey Friday at the Canada Winter Games in Halifax.
Bertolucci, from Montrose, scored the opening goal for the winners to help get the party started.
This is the first gold medal for Team B.C. using male U16 high performance players.
Team B.C. won the gold in 1979 with a team consisting of Junior B players.
Curtis Lazar of Vernon, with his tenth, 11th and 12th goals of the tournament, Cole Sanford of Vernon, Sam Reinhart of West and Vancouver, Nic Petan of Delta also scored for Team B.C.
Earlier in the day Team Alberta won the bronze with a 5-3 win over Team Ontario giving the western provinces two of the three medals.
