Ice forward Bertolucci, Team B.C. plays for gold at Canada Games

Kootenay Ice forward Luke Bertolucci is bound for gold Friday at the Canada Winter Games in Halifax.

Bertolucci and Team B.C. Company knocked off Team Ontario 5-2 Thursday in one semi final. The win avenged an earlier 5-1 round robin loss to Ontario.

Team B.C. meets Team Alberta which defeated Quebec 5-4 in overtime.

Bertolucci had an assist to help Team B.C. to a 4-2 victory over Manitoba in men’s hockey quarterfinals Wednesday.

Team B.C. opened the tournament with a 5-4 overtime loss to Quebec. The most Western Team then blasted Nova Scotia 8-5 in a game the 15-year-old native of Montrose added two assists.


The Gold Medal game goes at 3:30 PST Friday.

Two members of the Kootenay Wildcats, Aimee DiBella and Daley Oddy, travel to Halifax for the second week of competition in women’s ice hockey for Team B.C.

DiBella is from Nelson while Oddy is from Cranbrook.

A former member of the Wildcats, Ella Matteucci, of Fruitvale, is also on Team B.C. Matteucci attends Notre Dame in Wilcox, Sask.
