My name is Tamer – long A -like lion tamer! I’m Kootenay grown. In fact, I’m one of the few that was actually born and raised right here, in our lovely little hamlet, know as Rossland!
My love of all things makeup didn’t really sprout up until I was in my 20’s. Being born & raised in the West Kootenays, we lived a pretty simple and organic lifestyle. In fact, I didn’t even wear makeup, or pluck my eyebrows, until the age of 25!
It all started when I was living in Vancouver, and wanted to get involved in the booming movie industry. I graduated, from Blanche MacDonald, with a job as a roaming artist for Lancôme cosmetics.
I spent the next three years working in television, independent films, and doing model test shots for photographers. It was great, I loved it…but, in the meantime, I also fell in love. Things were about to change, as me, my guy, & my black dog, Marley, decided to move back to the mountains.
I now live in Rossland, where I specialize in weddings, proms, and special occasions. And I have to say…doing a Bride’s makeup on a sunny wedding day, is exhilarating. It’s one of my favorite things to do!
What I offer is a mobile makeup service. I work on location & supply all the makeup. So, for example, if you are getting married @ Redstone Golf Resort, but are getting ready at a suite in the Prestige Hotel, I would come to the hotel to do your makeup on location. It’s an exceptional time saver, and is ideal to have your m/up done right before you slip into your dress and head to the ceremony. That way, it’s yummy & fresh, and is photo ready!
I can pretty much work anywhere! I’ve even done m/up right out of the trunk of my car, and another time, on the seawall in False Creek.
I’ve been a freelance m/up artist since 1998. Prior to that, I did some modeling as well. For sure, some of my earlier influences are from magazines. I’ve been devouring fashion magazines since I was 12 years old! Truthfully, I’ve been a fashion addict my entire life. It’s in my blood.
Experiencing other artists, & their work, is a huge inspiration for me. I started out in this business with aspirations of working in the film industry doing f/x makeup. I now focus on weddings, where I work with my girls to help them look their loveliest! I’ve gone from blood, bullet wounds, & gore, to flawless skin, rosy cheeks, and lots of lip gloss! A wee bit o evolution I’d say.
AND A RANDOM FACT ABOUT ME: I play Roller Derby.
