Hawks, Salmo, Rockers claim West Kootenay volleyball titles

Salmo Falcons, J. Lloyd Crowe Hawks and Stanley Humphries Rockers came away with titles as the West Kootenay Junior Volleyball season concluded Saturday with playoff weekend.
In Grand Forks, the mighty Falcons shook off a pesky home side to claim the Junior Girl’s title. Mount Sentinel Wildcats finished third in the tournament.
The Hawks ousted Mount Sentinel in a best-of-three thriller to claim the Grade 8 Boy’s Volleyball crown.
Meanwhile, Stanley Humphries got past J.V. Humphries to capture the Grade 8 Girl’s title at the Mount Sentinel gymnasium in South Slocan. J. Lloyd Crowe of Trail finished third.
There was no tournament for the Junior Boys. Stanley Humphries was the only team entered.
Mount Sentinel Wildcats did not enter a team into the division as most players were playing senior ball.
