Thursday saw RCMP execute two search warrants, resulting in the seizure of hundreds of marijuana plants and the arrest of two local men.

The first warrant, executed in Thrums, saw police seize 582 mature plants as well as associated growing equipment, and 45-year-old homeowner Ca Senh Voong was arrested and has been charged with production of marijuana and possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.

Voong was released from custody pending a December court date.

That same day, police took a second warrant to Upper Levels Road in Robson, where 330 plants and assorted growing equipment was seized, and 49-year-old howeowner Mark LePage was arrested and charged with production of marijuana and possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking, as well as charges for firearms-related offences.

“The Castlegar RCMP remain committed to the eradication of indoor marijuana growing operations in the Castlegar area,” said RCMP detachment commander Sgt. Laurel Mathew. “Residents are encouraged to report any and all information regarding marijuana growing operations to the Castlegar RCMP.”
