LETTER: Huckleberries for Haiti?

There is just one month left in the “Grounds for Haiti” collective fundraising initiative and there are some great things happening in the month of June. Our small group behind the “Grounds for Haiti” collective fundraising initiative are intent on keeping the focus on long-term efforts on rebuilding Haiti in the public eye for awhile longer.
We are able to do this with the some creative fundraising partnerships and very supportive businesses.
Thus far, our efforts have raised almost $1700 for Plan Canada. Two coffeehouse evenings, one at Trail Coffee and Tea Company and the other recently at Clive’s Coffee Bar downtown and also coffee cans at each coffee establishment in Trail have been key in raising funds. Our soft goal is $2500 and there are a couple of ways you can help us reach it!
On Saturday, June 26th from 10 am to 6 pm, Huckleberry’s restaurant on Old Waneta Road will be hosting “Huckleberry’s for Haiti” day. There will be great music with local talent including amazingly gifted high school student, Amber Joy who has just returned from Toronto meetings with talent scouts. You can order off the fantastical Huckleberry’s menu and any financial donation to “Grounds for Haiti” of $10 or over will qualify for entry into draw for lunch for six at Huckleberry’s created by owner Carol Dasti, some restrictions apply. Carol is also working on the possibility of offering our campaign the monetary donation of every cup of coffee ordered that day. There will also be a small silent auction and more! Finally, from now until June 25th, you can donate a toonie to the “Grounds for Haiti” campaign when paying at the till at Huckleberry’s.
Another way you can support our last month of fundraising is by going to Clive’s and when paying at the till you can also donate a toonie to our fundraising efforts for the whole month of June.
The “Grounds for Haiti” collective fundraising initiative is so very thankful for the support and kindness shown to us as we all try and help to continue to make a difference in a country that has so little. All monies raised go to Plan Canada, one of the longest-running service organizations in Haiti.
