The Steps Dance Company has been working hard to create a once in a life time opportunity. They will be presenting a fashion show titled 27 Dresses, which will show case wedding dresses throughout the century.  It is truly a celebration of women.

The 27 wedding dresses will be modeled by community members and will feature modern to yesteryear dresses. On display will be a 2008 designer dress plus authentic Italian, Russian, Inuit and medieval wedding dresses to name a few. The show’s concept is based on the movie 27 Dresses and if you haven’t seen it, put it on your viewing list.

The 27 Dresses fashion show, tea and silent auction will take place at the new J.L. Crowe Secondary School on the afternoon of February 28, 2010.  The silent auction, receiving line and coat check will all begin at 12:00 pm.  The wedding show and tea will occur from 1 to 3 pm.  But that’s not all.  Steps Dance Company made up of dancers from across the Greater Trail area, will also be performing three numbers.  You do not want to miss this festive event as you will also have a chance to win an incredible wedding dress made by, Trail’s Citizen of the Year, Vicki Bisaro.

Such an amazing celebration could not occur without the generous support from our incredible community. Flowers for the event are being created by Ferraro Foods, models’ hair styles are being done by Avenue’s Hairdesign from Castlegar, tickets for the event have been designed and printed by Hall Printing, plus auction and door prize items are being donated by local businesses.

As well, this fashion show extraordinaire would not happen if it were not for the countless leadership opportunities offered to Steps Dance Company members.  Steps Dance Centre is a haven where people of all ages, including young citizens learn many styles of dance in a nurturing environment.  Not only do young people excel at dance at the Steps’ studio, but they also acquire self-confidence, stage presence, leadership skills, friendships and the ability to meet life’s challenges with grace and confidence.

Steps Dance Centre is under the direct leadership of Rhonda Michalik, who is a brilliant choreographer and a very fit, patient, plus knowledgeable dance instructor.  Throughout her career at Steps, Rhonda and her students have won countless awards and accolades.  With the help of her wonderful teachers like Sarah Joyce and Bevie Benson, Rhonda has inspired a generation of dancers.

Tickets, on sale now, are only $10 and can be purchased from any Steps Dance Company member or at Bear Country Kitchen in Rossland, Avenue’s Hairdesign in Castlegar, Ferraro Foods in Trail and Dr. Bibby’s office in Nelson.
