UPDATE: 91-yr-old struck by bus succumbs to injuries

On Jan. 12, the 91 -year-old pedestrian who was struck by a transit bus unfortunately succumbed to his injuries, accoridng to RCMP Sgt. Laurel Mathew.

“The collision is still under investigation,” she said. “Any witnesses to the incident that have not been spoken to by Police as of yet are asked to contact the Castlegar RCMP at 250-365-7721.”

A 91-year-old Castlegar man was struck by a transit bus yesterday afternoon and sent to hospital with serious injuries, but is expected to make a full recovery.

Castlegar RCMP Cpl. Jason Olney says the call came in at 5:09 p.m. on Tuesday, and police attended the intersection of 6 Street and 7 Avenue.

Olney says the cause of the incident is still under investigation, and the investigation may be aided by closed-curcuit cameras (some buses have them, and it’s uncertain yet whether this particular bus does).
