Spring programming is up and running at the Rossland Museum for 2022. Here are some of the current offerings, kicking off with a workshop next week:

Writing & Recording Family Histories

In partnership with the Rossland Seniors’ Centre. Our next workshop is all about Writing & Recording Family Histories. We’ll give you the framework to record your and others’ histories – on paper, audio recording, or any other method! Our stories are part of who we are, and this workshop will provide the tools to preserve your stories for generations to come.
Wednesday, May 4th from 3 to 4:30pm at the Rossland Museum & Discovery Centre.*

Entry by donation – coffee/tea & treats will be provided. Feel free to bring some of your stories – written, recorded, or remembered – for our Research Coordinator to lead you in preserving.
Space may be limited – please RSVP with Skylar at community@rosslandmuseum.ca or call 250-362-7722.
*Masks are required. This series is supported in part by the Government of Canada

Cub Club | ages 2.5-5 | Friday mornings: 10:15-11 am

$6 for members, $7 for non-members

Calling all cubs! Bring your kiddo each Friday morning to explore a new theme woven through Story Time, Active Play, Crafting and our Farewell Song. Please register in advance so we can prep for each week’s program – you can book your spot online: https://rossland-museum.square.site/product/cub-club/225.

Young Naturalists | ages 6-12 | Friday afternoons 3-5 pm

$12 for members, $14 for non-members. Punch passes available!

Young Naturalists is a nature-based program tailored to life in our Kootenay Community. Participants will enjoy the natural world while developing skills and knowledge to become the next generation of stewards of our natural home. Each week, we’ll do a different nature activity while engaging with the science that makes it all happen. Come dressed for the weather – we’ll be spending some time outside!

Please register in advance so we can prepare for each week’s program: https://rossland-museum.square.site/product/young-naturalists/226.

STEAM Saturdays | all ages | Saturday afternoons 2-4 pm

Free for members, included in admission for non-members.

S.T.E.A.M. stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics, and that – plus a whole lot of fun – is exactly what our S.T.E.A.M. Saturdays are all about. Combining aspects from each discipline, participants will find themselves creating something crafty and engaging with concepts and ideas that can feel a bit stale when communicated in the same old ways.

We have Discovery Kits that are available for FREE to Kootenay Educators. We also have several of Royal BC Museum’s mini-museums available for loan: Species at Risk; Writing on the Wall: Chinese Canadian History; and Having a Voice: Voting Rights & Democracy in BC. To learn more about renting these educational kits out, please visit our website: https://www.rosslandmuseum.ca/discovery-kits.

We are also booking up quickly with school and group tours for the spring! Learn more about our educational tours on our website (at https://www.rosslandmuseum.ca/educational-tours) and get in touch to book a time!

Please contact Skylar at community@rosslandmuseum.ca or 250-362-7722 with any programming questions.
