An abundance of opportunity awaits at the Great Kootenay Career Fair that will bring together regional employers and job seekers at Selkirk College’s Castlegar Campus.

The career fair is a collaboration with Selkirk College, Trail Skills Centre and the Castlegar & District Chamber of Commerce featuring more than 40 regional employers who are looking for those wanting to take on a new challenge. The Castlegar Campus Gym will be buzzing with excitement on March 6 and 7 in an event open to anybody looking for the right employment fit.

“The amount of energy that comes from this kind of gathering is always pretty special,” says Jessica Adrain, Selkirk College’s Co-op Education & Employment Services Advisor. “There is a great deal of enthusiasm on behalf of both the employers and those looking for career opportunities.”

Participating exhibitors range from the Kootenay Lake School District and Traction on Demand to Shambhala Music Festival and RBC Royal Bank. Employers from the natural resources sector, health care, finance, social services, community support, retail and local government will all have booths where face-to-face interaction helps spur opportunity. Faculty and staff from an array of Selkirk College programs will be available to help provide information on how to get the education, skills and training to attain employment goals.

Students and community members attending the career fair are encouraged to explore free resources to ensure the best results. You can find more information and the tools for success at: http://selkirk.ca/event/career-fair

The Great Kootenay Career Fair runs on March 6 from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and March 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be door prizes, a supervised KidsZone and plenty of free parking.
