Heritage Garden gets growing at the Le Roi Mine
Libby and Iain Martin gave a quick tour of their hard work on the new Heritage Garden that they’ve put in beside the Le Roi Mine at the Rossland Museum with the help of other volunteers, in particular Andy Cant and Angela Price.
The project was funded by the Columbia Kootenay Cultural Alliance and supported by a day of machine work by the City of Rossland in hopes that it will help attract new faces to the other attractions around the Le Roi Mine, even though the main attraction—the mine itself—is now closed.
The garden has just been planted in a mixture of ornamental and edible plants, but an onslaught of Columbia ground squirrels has kept Iain busy with additions to the fence while Libby tends to ravaged plants.
