Youth musical theatre camp performers present Disney’s “Newsies Jr.” and “Annie Kids”
A musical theatre double bill extravaganza as the Triple Threat Experience youth musical theatre camp performers present Disney’s “Newsies Jr.” and “Annie Kids”
Trail Arts Council and Steps Dance Centre are excited to present our two-for-one Triple Threat Experience youth musical theatre camp performance of Annie Kids and Disney’s Newsies Jr. on July 25 and July 26 at The Bailey Theatre
After weeks of preparation, where attendees learn the basics of all three disciplines (music, theatre and dance) through games, workshops, scene study, group choreography and vocal exercises, the kids are ready to put on a show!
Based on the popular comic strip, “Little Orphan Annie,” Annie KIDS tells the story of a spunky Depression-era orphan left as a baby on the doorstep of a New York City orphanage., run by the cruel Miss Hannigan.
As a teen, Annie sees the positive in everything. Getting into adventure after fun-filled adventure, Annie foils Miss Hannigan’s evil machinations, befriends President Franklin Roosevelt, and finds a new family in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary Grace Farrell, and a lovable mutt named Sandy.
Featuring classic songs, including “The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow”, Annie reminds us about the importance of community as she engages her friends and new family in her search for her parents, ultimately finding home in an unexpected way.
It’s time to “Seize The Day” with Disney’s Newsies Jr.! You’ll be doing flips for the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a band of young newsies in Manhattan.
When titans of publishing raise distribution prices at the newsies’ expense, Jack rallies young workers from across the city to strike against unfair conditions and fight for what’s right!
Adapted especially for young performers, this musical features a Tony Award®-winning score by Alan Menken and Jack Feldman and a book by Tony Award® winner Harvey Fierstein, and includes rousing songs like “Carrying the Banner,” “Seize the Day,” and “King of New York.”
Newsies Jr. is packed with nonstop thrills and a timeless message perfect for the whole family and every audience.
Tickets to the double bill are $17 for those 12 and under and $26 for those 13 and up. Shows are on Saturday July 25 at 1pm and 6pm and Sunday July 26 at 1pm at The Bailey Theatre.
