Reorganization will help build a more connected government
People will be at the centre of better service delivery as the Province establishes Connected Services BC, a more connected technology systems model that works better for people and businesses interacting with government.
Effective Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2025, current ministry Information Management and Information Technology branches will be combined with the Office of the Chief Information Officer to form a new organization, Connected Services BC, within the Ministry of Citizens’ Services.
The reorganization is part of a broader effort to better align digital-service delivery with how people actually experience government across programs and ministries.
By bringing teams and platforms together under one umbrella, the goal is that by 2030, there will be one front door for people and one front door for businesses interacting with government online, a connected service experience that allows for whole-of-government co-ordination and reduces delays and duplication so that users:
- only need to enter information once, with systems that share data securely and appropriately across programs;
- find and access services more easily, with fewer steps and clearer information; and
- benefit from services that are reliable, connected and designed around their needs.
Over the coming months, a functional review will guide the creation of four new Connected Services BC divisions focused on improved service delivery for:
- people in B.C.;
- businesses;
- BC Public Service employees; and
- employees serving the public.
Connected Services BC will bring together people, resources, and technology to improve collaboration, reduce duplication and support innovation across government.
This transformation is part of government’s broader modernization efforts, ensuring public services are more connected, responsive and centred on the needs of people in B.C.
