Arson incident in Trail
An arsonist started a fire in a dumpster, and a quick response by Trail firefighters prevented a potentially serious fire in the 1300 block of Cedar Avenue in Trail.
The dumpster fire was directly beneath a large wooden fire escape at the back of the building, but the fast-acting fire crew had the fire out in only four minutes, before the fire escape could burn and spread the fire — and the crew arrived only two minutes after receiving the call.
Acting Captain David Como reported, “The emergency call was received at 16:51 hours. Regional Fire Rescue arrived on the scene at 16:53 hours, and the incident was under control at 16:57 hours.”
Kudos to the Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue Station 374 in Trail.
Both witnesses and the building’s security footage confirmed that a person intentionally set the fire, and the RCMP are currently investigating.
