Record breaking turnout for advanced voting in Canada's 46th federal election
Elections Canada, in a press releaser Tuesday morning, estimated 7.3 million electors voted during the four days of advanced polling (Friday, April 19 thru Monday, April 22) during the federal election.
The release stressed that this number is an estimate based on preliminary figures, as some polls may not have reported yet. Assuming the estimates are correct, this is a 25% increase from the 5.8 million electors who voted in advance in the 2021 general election.
A breakdown of the estimated number of electors who voted at the advance polls for all electoral districts is being calculated and will soon be available on elections.ca
This will be the first election since federal riding boundaries were redrawn consequent to the 2021 Census, in the Fair Representation Act. This places Rossland, Castlegar and Warfield in the Similkameen – South Okanagan – West Kootenay riding, while Nelson and Trail are in the Columbia – Kootenay – Southern Rockies riding.
Election day is April 28, 2025.
