Desabrais, Murray & Jessey named 3 Stars
JP Desabrais (Williams Lake Mustangs), Evan Murray (Quesnel River Rush) and Alex Jessey (Williams Lake Mustangs) have been selected as the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League 3 Stars of the Week for the period ending Dec. 22/24.
Desabrais – Top Forward – The Red Earth Creek, Alta., native had five goals and six points in two games for the Mustangs. Desabrais netted a hat-trick in their 7-4 loss to the River Rush on Dec. 20, then against the Chase Heat on Dec. 21, he scored twice, including the winner, and added an assist. It’s Desabrais’ second selection as Top Forward this season. Desabrais has 32 points in 26 games, which ranks him second on the team and 15th in the KIJHL.
Murray – Top Defenceman – The Kimberley native had a game-winning goal and two assists for the River Rush in two games, while playing an average of 24:52 a game and was plus three. Against the 100 Mile House Wranglers on Dec. 18, Murray had a goal and an assist. In their 7-4 win over the Mustangs, Murray assisted on the insurance goal. Murray is fourth on the River Rush with 23 points in 21 games.
Jessey – Top Goalie – The Calgary native had a stellar performance in a 5-1 win over the Heat on Dec. 21, turning aside 46 of 47 shots for a 1.00 goals against average and a .979 save percentage. Jessey saved 20 shots alone in the second period. In 10 games with the Grand Forks Border Bruins and Mustangs, Jessey has three wins with a 4.23 GAA and a .905 SP. In eight games with the Mustangs, Jessey has a .914 SP.
