Remembrance Day in Rossland

Legion Poppy Chairperson Nelda Van Tamelen (pictured on the right) proudly pinned the first poppy on Mayor Andy Morel in front of the Rossland City Hall to mark the beginning of the Legion’s 2024 Poppy Campaign in Rossland.
Monday, November 11, will see the annual Remembrance Day parade begin at the Rossland Legion on Washington Street and march solemnly along Columbia Avenue to the Cenotaph Plaza by the Rossland Public Library.
Speakers will honour the memory of those who have lost their lives in war, and wreaths will be laid to remind us all of the losses of loved ones.
The occasion is an especially appropriate time to contemplate the bases of war, and whether or not humanity can ever learn to manage conflict without battle.
