On Saturday, April 6 at 3:46 p.m., frontline Trail and Greater District officers received a report that a 30-year-old Maple Ridge man (formerly of Trail) had allegedly threatened and assaulted another person with a knife. At the same time, witnesses reported that the man was driving erratically and speeding in a vehicle on Hospital Bench Road, in Trail, according to RCMP Sgt. Mike Wicentowich.

“Officers quickly located the man and the other person in the vehicle in downtown Trail,” he said. “The officers arrested the man for Possession of a Prohibited Weapon contrary to Section 88(1) of the Criminal Code, Assault with a Weapon contrary to Section 267(a) of the Criminal Code, Unauthorized Possession of Weapon contrary to Section 92(1) of the Criminal Code, and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle contrary to Section 320.13(1) of the Criminal Code.

Wicentowich said the officer seized a weapon believed to be associated to the alleged offences from the vehicle.

“The man was lodged into the Trail Detachment cell block. The 30-year-old Maple Ridge man was then detained into custody after a bail hearing before a Judge.”
